Yes.
The BIG ONE is inevitable. But when?

It all depends on how far one lives from the earthquake's epicenter.

I'll be direct. Quit being obtuse.

While there is some debate about the exact boundaries, the Westside is the name in common use for the part of the LA basin roughly north Balona Creek/ the 10 and West of La Cienega. If you see it used in the LOS ANGELES FORUM, that's what it means. It doesn't mean Chatsworth or West Hills, because the name in common use for that area is the West Valley.

It's the earthquake equivalent of Fred Sanford's heart attack.

It's typically meant to mean a major, very destructive quake on the San Andreas fault. At least, that is how I've always heard it used, ever since they were warning us about the Big One in kindergarten in the 1970s. The Northridge quake, for instance, was not the Big One since it was on the wrong fault and the damage was not widespread enough.

Including the depth of the quake. Also the duration. Most people do not know what is worse, a 8 lasting just half a minute or a 8 lasting a whopping 10 minutes.

Whoa!! Just had another one. That one was pretty good.

They usually seem to hit hard at first and then decrease. This one felt like it kept building. I was saying out loud, "Stop! Stop! Stop!"

But they're saying it's an aftershock, though the magnitude was greater.
