I'd devote as much $$$ as possible towards getting a car (seeing as I think I'm going to be getting paid more than I thought) but would have to rely on walking/buses for the first 2-3 months to save up money and get settled and whatnot.

Thanks!

And, as a warning, I'll probably be making a lot more threads in the future if I do get this job so sorry in advance!
Find a job first and move directly across the street. Problem solved and your can really concentrate on making $$$ to fund that new car.

All in all, there are a lot of great places to walk in LA.
3rd and Fairfax is a much safer spot to live and walk around at night than Koreatown or Hollywood.

West Hollywood, between Dohney / La Brea and Sunset / Santa Monica is safe, and fairly walkable - but I still argue that Miracle Mile and Downtown LA are the most walkable areas in LA.

Meh.

Hollywood is not very dangerous to walk around in at night, unless you are creeping around on Fountain or something. If you stick to the main drags of Sunset, Hollywood and even Santa Monica, you're cool.

And as far as it has come, DTLA is still way more sketch than Hollywood or Koreatown.
