Hi All,

I am curious if anyone has experiences in searching for an apt in the Glendale area?

I currently commute from SFV (northridge) to LACMA (Beverly Hills) and it takes me up to 45mins in the morning (6:30am) and about 66mins to go home (5:30pm) so the commute is a killer and am trying to improve it a bit. I'm also trying to accommodate my wife who is going to school at ArtCenter (pasadena) and also trying to escape the valley heat so my best bet is Glendale.

I'm looking for 1BR, budget < $950 and am wondering if anyone has specific comments/experiences of which neighborhoods are non-crowded like the valley as opposed to LA, has plenty of parking, and is safe to walk at night.

If this is not possible, then i rather have hot valley weather but not have crowdedness. (my definition of crowded is having to wait more than 2+ lights just to past an intersection, parking without 2 hour limits) so this would open me to Studio City, or Burbank

TIA

Get an apartment north of Colorado and Glendale Avenue and you will be in a safe middle-class area and near Brand Avenue and all it offers.

thanks. i've had a talk with a friend who used to live in LA and went to glendale and said it can take just under an hour to get home. sucks as it's near to the same time it takes me currently to the valley.

Yeah, it's doable. If you take buses or just want a good walk there are at least three buses that come pretty frequently. There's the Galleria/Americana only a mile away.

it's super difficult to find anything in my 900$ criteria. should i raise it to 1100? 50k gross for me and wife.

is the rule 30% apply to month's pre-taxed income or after tax? after tax amount is where i got the 900$ value from.
