I would like to get input from California natives on this one because this seems to be a controversial topic.

I want to post some pictures and I would like you to post your reaction to them. If it is bad, then tell what is wrong with it and what would make it acceptable to you.

If several people start responding, I think this will give northeasterners, midwesterners, and southerners a sense of the style that they don't get from the word "casual."

Thanks!

All of those pics are clearly not of Angelenos.

"casual" for LA is v-necks, skinny jeans, or shorts, fedora, black rimmed glasses or aviators. H&M is the store of choice here.

And yes for some reason it's "controversial" to pin this as the LA style just because this is a city of millions. Is the kicker look in the Midwest and Texas is the majority style? No, of course not but it is a local color/character that is big in the region. It's not controversial.

There are certain neighborhoods in LA where you will stick out like a sore thumb if you're not in some eclectic clothing in much of the way if you're not in regular clothing in a small town in the heartland. The latter may be more rude about it, but the former will probably just not find you as interesting.

Who wears their high school letter jackets after high school? That's a flyover country, Al Bundy thing.

That first pic with the exaggerated fold in the bill of the cap, that's something you don't see until you get out into the inland areas and high deserts.

You're a little obsessed with LA men's dress. The fact is there is none, especially by the wealthiest and most powerful. LA is full of billionaires in baseball caps and Hollywood types/industry leaders dressing up in a t-shirt, jeans, tennis shoes AND a suit jacket (the nice part) at formal functions. One time I saw an old disheveled bearded guy in sweats and a stained t-shirt digging around where I gre wup - turns out he's one of the music industry's biggest producers.

Men wearing v-necks and skinny jeans and fedoras? Maybe in West Hollywood and Silverlake but not most of LA! (Gays and hipsters)

Oh I hate that style for the caps. That was a huge thing in small town Texas. People would teach me how to that; stick you're cap's bill in a coffee mug and leave it there overnight. The next morning your hat will be ridiculously folded.

Then you add some tears to it and boom you're stylish!

Oh lord, here we go, another "that's not all LA" post.

I get it. But I've seen this look in Hollywood West and East, Burbank, Melrose, Westwood, Brentwood, Santa Monica, Venice, Silverlake, Los Feliz, Echo Park, NoHo, DTLA.

I've seen it in the westside too, but it's not the majority and it's not what's commonly popular. Only in silverlake and los feliz and echo park. In west hollywood to some degree, but gay men.
