I just got a job at Cedar Sinai making marginally above minimum wage (yay!). The jobs starts next month and I've been trying to research the best place to stay around there. I've been told that Studio City would be a good option.

I've narrowed my choices down to three locations, each offering a differing route from getting from Studio City to Beverly Hills.

1. 101
2. Coldwater Canyon Dr.
3. Laurel Canyon Blvd.

Which one would be the best for driving during rush hour (Job is from 9AM - 5PM)?

Thank you in advance!

Hmmmm, I guess all three routes are just as bad?

Cedars Sinai is not in Beverly hills, it's a bit east in Beverly Grove bordering West Hollywood. If you took coldwater you'd be going way further west than you need to (into the heart of beverly hills). Therefore your only real option is Laurel Canyon.

Thank you!

Would I be hitting a lot of traffic on Laurel Canyon around 8 AM?

What about 101, is it better than Laurel Canyon?

the 101 is an east/west freeway until it hits hollywood, so isn't really a viable option between studio city and west hollywood. just deal with laurel canyon, you have no other option. it won't be longer than a 45 minute drive.

The canyons, Coldwater and Laurel are main arteries from studio city to Los Angeles.

For what it's worth. From Studio City you can take the Hollywood freeway to Cahuenga Blvd or you can just snake down Ventura Blvd, hug the Hollywood freeway on surface streets to Cahuenga Blvd. and take Cahuenga to Fountain Street. Fountain Street is an alternate East West street when Sunset and Santa Monica are grid locked. Take Fountain to La Cienega.

I would check in the morning. If you can get over Laurel Canyon this is the most direct.

cahuenga is just as busy as laurel often times, and if he lives in the western end of studio city he'd have to go unnecessarily east to get to cahuenga

i'd take Beverly Glen or Coldwater from the Valley since Cedars is too far east from the 405 with normal drivetime traffic. In any event it's not going to be quick or easy. If there's a way you can start early and workout near your job I'd do that instead.
