Has anyone taken the metro rail Blue line? I've taken the redline a couple of times to downtown L.A (and hollywood) and find it better than driving and trying to park in those areas. I am thinking of taking it from Noho (Redline) to Long Beach. I've heard the blue line has a "different crowd" ..more sketchy?

Any experiences? Looks like it will take about 1hr 30mins..but thats prob not too much longer than driving

the blue line goes through some pretty rough areas, but that doesn't necessarily mean the train is unsafe. i've ridden that line end to end multiple times and have never had an issue. granted you've got the occasional screamers, stinkers, pan handlers, solicitors, and sellers, but i certainly never felt in danger. most people keep to themselves and are just trying to get to their destination as quickly as possible.

Most people do keep to themselves. You should be fine on the Blue line.

I use the Blue Line a lot when I don't need my car in Downtown. I park in LB and ride it to 7th St. It goes through sketchy areas, but I've never felt unsafe on it. I am not sure I'd ride it at 10PM.

Once rode the Gold Line from Pasadena into DTLA, and then transferred to the Blue Line to the LB Convention Center.

It did go through some sketchy areas, but I also saw some transit police officers checking for tickets/passes (several passengers were ticketed), so I felt safe. Rode it back at night and there were still quite a few people on board. I probably would not ride it very late at night.

Actually, you have to keep transferring. Gold to Purple to Blue. I think when I went, it was almost two hours.

The Blue Line from DTLA Metro 7th station to DTLong Beach is about 58 minutes. The Red line from North Hollywood to DTLA 7th Street station is 30 minutes. Give 5-10 minutes for the transfer and if you are lucky, it is right there waiting.

I have taken the Blue line several times over the years to Long Beach, but most especially when I wanted to get to the airport via Green Line, but now I just use the Flyaway bus at Union Station. It seems to largely empty out by the time it gets to the Green line transfer station from DTLA. Most people stick to themselves and is safe to me. It is as sketchy as any other metro rail line.

I've taken the Blue Line a few times. While I did encounter one or two panhandlers, I've never felt unsafe taking it. Like others already said, I probably wouldn't take at 10 or 11 at night, but any other time, it should be fine. It can get really crowded but most people do keep to themselves and are just trying to get from point A to point B.
