Hello everyone
My Family may be moving to l.a. Due to job offer. THe job will be in central l.a. - we would like to know what suburb is less than 45 minute driving commute that has great school system ( which also is not too overcrowded) , family friendly n safe and has houses affordable for middle class family. We heard about eagle rock. Any thoughts on that town and any other towns you recommend?

Your definition of central LA will determine what suburbs are accessible

If I had a nickel for every time I see one of these threads.

People want safe neighborhoods, great schools, and short commutes to central areas of the top metro cities in the country. Then, have a budget which isn't even close.

I hate to break it to you, but you are talking about a metro area with how many millions of people? How many millions people want the same exact things you do? Of those millions, how many are and willing to pay a premium for those?
Or, what most people do, commute from further out.

LA doesn't have suburbs in the traditional midwestern definition.

Whenever I hear the word suburb and someone wanting to move to LA I just giggle because they are going to be in for a shock.

Sarcasm: I need a place that is safe, great schools, less than a 30 minute commute, next to the beach and close to shopping etc...Oh yeah, it has to be cheap and affordable! Hahahaha! Sarcasm off:

Wow, what a tough crowd. Yes, the OP could have given more specific information, but they have given enough to at least make some suggestions. From their post, I take Central LA to mean in or near Downtown LA. And they didn't say cheap and affordable, they said middle-class affordable - which admittedly can vary widely, depending on where they are from - but why not give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that they are talking about a roughly local definition of middle-class affordable? Which for LA I think means a gross household income of somewhere between $80,000-150,000 and looking at a single family home somewhere in the $400,000-750,000 range, depending on how much equity they have to put down.

Eagle Rock fits that middle-class affordable definition, but don't know about the schools. Try also looking at Burbank and Glendale which would have a generally good commute, are reasonably affordable, and have some decent schools. Mt Washington might also work. Also look out the other way at Culver City which has its own school system.
