Pasadena rocks. I also loved The Hat there, as far as non-pizza goes.
Oh, I somehow missed this post.

I do not like The Hat. My middle school was located close to one (they also have locations in San Gabriel and Alhambra), and yuck! Their "best item", pastrami sandwich... I took it home and made rice instead. Never went back after my first time. My family also doesn't have a feel for TH.

Tony's Pizza in San Marino and Pizza Cart in Temple City are also pretty good (cheap, too!) but they're not in Pas. Just a ten minute drive!

People who think that LA pizza even stands a chance it sorrily mistaken. Frisco pizza holds up better against NY pizza. In all honesty the "best pizza" here still compares in comparison to a place in queens NY called New Park Pizza.

Frisco? Whadda noob.

Queens, NY isn't on our radar screen. They could make pizza that would induce orgasms of prandial bliss while filling our cavities with pure gold, and it wouldn't matter a particle. You know why? BECAUSE IT'S 3000 M-F MILES AWAY.

Yeah, this is the LA/CA forum for a reason.

NYC- best pizza on the planet. Deep dish in Chi town, a distant 2nd. To know what good pizza is in LA, you gotta know what great is.

I heard that the Mexican food over there is nonexistent, though. My cousin relocated to NYC in 1995 and apparently the Asian offerings are still not comparable to LA's. To make up for it, they got pizza and bagels which isn't so big here.

As she said, "But you have to sacrifice."

What about New Yorkers who move to LA and open their own pizza parlor? That does happen and there was one only about 5 miles from me. Very good pizza, by Italians/former New Yorkers.

I've been to Milana's in Long Beach a couple more times, and it's definitely the real deal. Nice thin NYC style slices, they're like the slices I'd get back in the day in Florida at places run by guido refugees from Long Island and Jersey.
