It has been decades and decades since I moved to Los Angeles, and I have yet to see anything close to being as good as the pizza in Boston, and surrounding areas.
Here in Los Angeles, you get that white crappy cheese that is like chewing gum on your pizza.
Half stays on the pizza, and the other half hangs out of your mouth.
What's with that?
That cheese has no taste to it.
In and around Boston (as I remember, pizza is made with cheddar cheese, and it so much better than the crap they call pizza in Los Angeles.

Bob.

I don't know, there is some pretty terrible pizza in Boston to go along with the great.

My wife and I call it "circle of garbage pizza". It's that cookie-cutter pre-made crust pizza that about 75% of the places around the city sell. Of course on the other end there are some amazing pizza places in Boston too. I worked across from a location of Upper Crust (which apparently is run by a bunch of exploitative D-bags) and had a lot of friends that worked there so I got it for free all the time, they have some of the best pizza I have had from a non-gourmet pizza place.

Overall I have been pleasantly surprised by the pizza here in LA. Living 5 minutes from Village Pizza on Yucca may have influenced my opinion of course.

I'm pretty much never going to Boston again based on that.

Here's another note: Don't order Pizza in Saint Louis. They manage to make lousy pizza even worse by covering it with Provel "Cheese"

Yecch.

You can put any cheese you want on pizza, I guess, but traditional pizza is made with mozzarella and grated parmesan.

Also had good pizza at Basix Cafe in West Hollywood, and Valentino's Pizza in Manhattan Beach.

Elle Oh Elle, glad to hear. You live in Pasadena, yes? What places would be at the top of your list there? There were 5 or 6 pizza restaurants I was looking into going there, but settled on Settebello. Have you been to Tarantino's?

Pasadena rocks. I also loved The Hat there, as far as non-pizza goes.
