Back on topic, I wouldn't live in any of those places if someone paid me to. I respect that there are people who live in each of those cities who are trying to get out, or improve their circumstances by fixing the inner city problems, etc. However, that won't be me. I live in a so-so building in a good area, which is far better than living in a good building in a bad area (if there is such a thing; it sounds like an oxymoron!).

I've been trying to DM YOU & I cannot get the DM system to work - can you help?

MJB - I'd comment, but want to stay ON TOPIC

So, just to be clear (ON THE TOPIC) - I want safety (or at least the illusion of such) ... thank you!

Actually, I'm just down the street from North Long Beach, but I still wouldn't want to live there.

Neither of the other two choices is appealing to me either. Someone else mentioned being homeless on some south Orange County beach. I think I'd rather go with that.

There is no rule that says you get to pay your dues in Omaha Nebraska then move to the finer parts of California, are there? If there were, everybody would be wanting to pay their dues in Omaha or Kansas City or Miami or somewhere better than Compton or Watts....

I'd like to say that I paid my dues in Burbank and now I deserve to move to Beverly Hills -- but life just doesn't work that way!!

Have you ever been to Miami?.....I think it doesnt fit in any kind of category that Omaha is in.....LOL.....must be a funny joke or something by you saying that

All of the areas seem rather seedy, but Watts has the Watts Towers which I have always admired, so I would probably pick Watts.

Watts scares me. North LB seems dirty. Southern Compton actually isn't that bad especially around the end of the 91fwy. It's pretty clean and lots of new development with that new Best Buy there around the casino. However northern Compton is another story.

Default hi

I would live in None of the above. If it came down to those choices, I would buy a mobile home and live somewhere else entirely.

There are nice streets everywhere here in L.A. Even the most notorious neighborhoods will surprise you with a concentrated area where it is safe, clean and full of nice neighbors who look out for each other. So if I had to, I would live in any of those places. I would just do my research first and find an area that fit the above criteria.
It's the fact that the surrounding areas are so bad in those cities that keeps me out of them.
