Yeah you do not want to live in a town that's super preppy. Boston was the pits and a haven for the douchiest preps in the world.

Not that I would shop at downtown LA anyhow but this is not the type of store I would go visit.
I never see 3-piece as stylish, guys in Europe can dress very stylish using casual clothing.
There are no interesting, different and stylish clothing for men in chain stores in US, you have to go to a very anti-mall place and pay top dollar if you can even find your size.
Year after year, men's clothing stores in the US always have the same fricken inventory, jeans either cargo, painter or standard. They try to pass Loose, relaxed and baggy as different styles even though they are just different fits for a standard jean style and not truly different styles.
T-shirts come in 2 flavors round or V neck, that is it! Bunch of different colors or pockets/stripes are the only variations. I absolutely hate it when places put their own store/company name on the garment. Great, I am going to buy this and also advertise for you for free? WTF?

Pants are even worse, same styles as jeans but a few more color though the fit and feel of the fabric is often awful.

It is really retarded how lacking mainstream men's fashion in the US for average Joe is.

He's right. Men's fashion in the US is very lacking unless you go higher up. The only exception is H & M. Express just looks tacky to me, especially with their little lion label.

I've found that buying the best stuff at Target, like the Merona brand and getting it tailor fitted works well too. Each Target is different too and offer different stuff.

Other than that, you want good high end men's clothing with differing styles, get ready to pay some top dollar.

In Europe at least, it's less about brands and more about what you can do with your clothes. More style less brand image.

I ask because when he mentioned jeans he brought up cargo, painter and standard. I honestly can not remember the last time I saw painter or cargo jeans in any store I set foot in.

LOL Cargo Jeans? I don't know if I've ever seen those.

Men's fashion, even at the higher end, is basically non-existent. It's just not a priority for most designers besides a select few. Even the H&M mens department is typically only 1/3 the size of the women's.

Wow I am definitely not fashion forward. What other types of t-shirts are there, square?

actually, BB has changed a lot in their suiting in the past 10 yrs. They used to specialize in American-cut un-darted sack suits which was the standard from post-WW2 through the 70's. Also they sold tons of suit separates to middle-aged guys with hard-to-fit body types, such as beer bellies & fat asses. However, BB has refocused and now offers a range of silhouettes, from square-shouldered Boss-style suits to ultra-slim Italian models. They even carry a runway collection designed by Thom Browne that'll match your skinny Hermes ties & Gucci loafers!

It's too bad Suit Supply doesn't come to LA. They're a bit more fashion-forward with interesting eye-catching fabric in slim cuts.

Try Forever 21 which has an even smaller mens section, lol.

But yes, you have to go even higher for good men's clothing. I am talking Kenneth Cole, Armani, J.Crew, Banana, Billy Reid (I'm preppy like that), Lacoste, Vineyard Vines, etc.

If you want to just go comfy rock the crunchy yuppie look; northface, patagonia, sandals, new balance.
