Los Feliz is a cool area for young people, and if you're into the indie scene you'll fit right in. Silverlake is also nice in the indie/trendy sense and walkable from what I hear.

Los Feliz might be good for you. My son lives there--shares an apartment--2 bd 2 bath for 1600. He likes it pretty well. He can walk to lots of food and entertainment. Personally, I find it kind of creepy--too many homeless and weird people hanging around--but then, I'm not young.

I think that apartment your son is living may be in the same complex we saw. Edgemont something or other. The price for the two bedroom is $1600 there. I'm definitely into the indie scene, my boyfriend isn't, but he'll be alright. I don't mind the homeless and weird people too much, so I'll definitely be looking into it. Thanks!

Beach.
Best social life, best networking for your age group.

Gosh, If only I were 20 years younger ! Oh-kay 25 yrs younger , whatever !
Loved being 19 !!
Ooohh, then save up for Hawaii.
At 19 you are legal drinking age !
My suggestion...hit the beach scene. It's your big backyard while you are still young.
Enjoy .

Well the beach is nice and all, but how are you supposed to find an apartment for $1100 or less anywhere close to there. It's near impossile. I'd stick to the Los Feliz, Hollywood areas because they seem to always be filled with this cool energy and are relatively easy to walk around and take PT.

part_iv ; I have never even been to LA, so I can't even begin to comment, but wanted to wish you luck with your move. Ignore LALady. It's just as you said, they come online and have wit and bravery that is unmatched. Good luck on your move, and don't listen to the nay sayers.

Los Feliz is a nice place for young people to live. Los Feliz Village is a scene in itself. It rides between mansions and East Hollywood. It's got great flavor and vibe. I like living here.

My boyfriend and I (18 and 19) are moving out to LA a week from this coming Monday. We had been talking about it for about a year and finally decided to take the leap! Last week we took time off work to go out and find an apartment (thank god for GPS or else we would still be trying to find the first option.)

I recomend paying the 60 dollars westsiderentals.com charges to use their website. I had looked at some options online at websites such as rent.com and apartemtns.com for months..once we actually saw what they were like we decided we needed to talk to someone. It was WELL worth our money! It have us many options.

It may take a while for you to get ahold of management at some places but it sounds like you have the time. We had to full days.

We finally found an apartment in Burbank for 950 a month not including utilities. Which seems like a GREAT deal to us!

We had looked around North Hollywood and that just wasn't our scene. We are from Northern Michigan so we don't get out much haha. However once we drove into Burbank we felt at home. The people were all nice, there were no bars on windows or doors. It just feels safe! We also drove into Pasedena and loved that. It is a little farther from downtown LA but if you don't care how close you are I would recomend there as well. Keep in touch with me! As we don't really know anybody out there besides friends of our familes that are much older. It would be nice to meet another couple our age!!!

Good luck and I hope that you can find something!

There'd be no way in hell of me even thinking about leaving if she didn't think we were not going to be okay.

So... ayone have any opinions on Los Feliz? Maybe something that could help me out even the slightest bit?
Part iV - Don't let LALady (a misnomer if I've ever seen one) get you down. You are young with the opportunity to spread your wings... GO FOR IT!

I don't know much about the Los Feliz area, so I can't help you there. From my experience, there are areas of North Hollywood, Studio City, Sherman Oaks, Encino, Tarzana that have plenty of apartments within your price range. If you stay in the vicinity of Ventura Boulevard, access to the bus lines is good for local commuting, however, if you need to go further, your commute time could be a nightmare.

Good luck to you and your boyfriend!
