Hello,
I am older and living alone. I am looking at a small older home on Highview Drive in Altadena. I am not from CA, and don't know this area. Do you think it is safe for me? I do walk my dog at night. Honestly please.

A 'good area' is subjective. Everyone defines that differently. Sometimes north of the freeway can be touch and go literally street by street for individuals comfort zones.

That being said, as a woman walking alone at night in that block I personally would feel fine. But again, that's just me. I'd suggest checking some crime stats and spending some time on the street as well at varying hours to see if you'd have the same feelings.
