I am told these are Juniper trees, but when looking them up, none of them fit entirely the markings of this tree.

not a juniper, that's for sure. could be a eucalyptus, the bark looks right. however, i'm thinking it could be an olive tree as well based on the leaves and fruit.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the chicken. LOL.

There is also a garden forum that might produce better answers:

Bingo.

Now that I look at both the OPs photo and these, it also answers my own nagging question. We have these all around the biz park I work at certain days and always wondered what they were.

Good eye s0nginmyheart!, That would be Gilly, our rebel hen. Always makes sure she's in the shot.

After some deeper research, the only person that was able to ID these trees was an education manager over at TreePeople.

JW2, you are exactly correct, as they are Podocarpus macrophyllus. YEW PINE Podocarpus macrophyllus to be exact. (but oddly enough, not a yew or a pine).

The fruit, known as aril, are quite good. My main concern of course was if they were ok for the chickens, which in fact they are, however the seed attached is toxic.
They know to stay away from them anyways. They are hard as well, and not so appealing.

thank you everyone for your input and help!!
