If you look at the murders that are purely "random" crimes, LA is actually pretty safe compared to a lot of cities. You need to exclude killings between people who knew each other (which could happen anywhere).

These are recent crimes so the LA Times homocide blog hasn't filled in the details yet -- let's go back and see what the details are a couple of weeks from now.

Not bad at all for having millions of people. I live in a town of 50,000 and our crime and thefts are higher than national average. Our theft rate alone is 33% higher than L.A. based on per capita research. Also I dont think you'll get bothered, but I would be careful posting copyright articles, if those publishers see that and wanna be dicks they could get you in trouble.

Thats terrible. It looks like 95% of the murder victims are minorities.
