Hi everyone. I started a job in K-town/Mid-Wilshire a couple of months ago and have been taking the Metrolink from Norwalk/Santa Fe Springs, nearby where I live. It's been an okay commute - Metrolink to Union Station, hop on the red line a few stops and take a bus or walk to office.

Now that I'm employed and no longer need the support of my folks, I want to find my own place. The ideal location would be near a metro rail station and no more than a 45 min commute either by car or rail. Although living in K-town/Mid-Wilshire would make sense, I don't like the area very much.

I'd like your suggestions on neighborhoods or cities that would be a reasonable commute. Thanks

Downtown, Hollywood and North Hollywood are your immediate options if you want to be close to a metro station. Culver City could work as well. We can give better opinions knowing what your rental budget is and the type of neighborhood/amenities you're looking for.

Also, Pasadena has the Gold Line that connects with Purple line subway at Union Station.

It really depends on what you are looking for in a neighborhood. Why not some place close to where you live now? Or you could live in nearby Fullerton with its many bars and heavy night life, if that is your thing. Fullerton also provides access to Amtrak trains to supplement your Metrolink trains at no additional cost for Metrolink monthly pass holders.

It would be best to get out a map of Metro Rail and Metrolink and find a place that suits your needs. Again, what are you looking for in a place to live.

So, K-town and the Mid-Cities area doesn't do it for you? That's where I would start along with North Hollywood area.
