Sierra Madre is a small suburb east of Pasadena. I'm pretty sure it's mostly just houses.

Arcadia, due south, has at least two nice shopping malls and a race track.
The mall on Baldwin has a Sbarro Pizza which is nice since the one in the Glendale Galleria closed.

I loved Sierra Madre when I visited, can't wait to go back. There might not be something particular that stands out in the area, but I love the whole feel of the place. And the rest of the foothills going beyond Sierra Madre.

Sierra Madre is on top of a nice hill and has charming streets and houses.

There is a stretch of Sierra Madre Blvd that has some small shops and restaurants.

It's a very cool, relaxing area, overall.

For shopping, you will most likely go to Pasadena and Arcadia, as you already know.

Yes. We ate at a Mexican restaurant with a nice little patio seating area after a day at the Arboretum.

Great bedroom community and very tranquil. Great Irish Pub there that served great fish and chips called Lucky Baldwin's (not sure if it is still there or not).

I used to live in Arcadia across from the mall & race track. When my son & daughter were young, they loved when I took them to the Upper Hastings Ranch area of Sierra Madre to see the homes lit up with festive lights & decorations. There was a different theme for each street & Santa Claus would visit with children in front of one of the houses.

Time to go visit, robert. It has a theater, several good restaurants, an art gallery, a great little downtown area....and neighbors who've lived there for years who know each other. I love Sierra Madre.

Sierra Madre has the biggest wisteria vine in the world, and a pretty little festival once a year where you can see it in bloom. It is a sight to behold. Should be coming up pretty soon.

I only hung around the immediate area and that alone was impressive to me. But I also liked the Metro station, big parking structure and right next to a nice apartment/condo building.

The Metro station area is East Pasadena... Sierra Madre is about half mile east and a mile north up a hill from the station.

It's somewhat confusing because the station is named "Sierra Madre Villa"--but it's not in Sierra Madre.

It's still basically the same general area, regardless.
