Hello All! I'm new here and hoping for some help. My husband and I have a chance for an overnighter this Saturday 2/23 which is very rare since we are sole caretakers for my elderly live in mom. We so badly want to go somewhere relatively close that's up in the snow with mountain views from our hotel room or cabin. We are on tight budget so not looking for anything super fancy. Just want to have 24 hours of peace and quiet with lovely views. We have never stayed anywhere in the snow so hoping we can find something....Everything I have checked anywhere around any of the ski resorts is too expensize as we don't ski. I figured after this recent storm there must be a lot of areas with snow that aren't near ski resorts but not sure how to find them. If anyone knows of such a place in the areas of Frasier Park, or San Bernardino mountains etc., we would sure appreciate the help. I did find a lot of cabins but they have two night minimum and unfortunately we only have one night off (first one on over a year!). Thanks for any advice and God Bless.

Wrightwood, Big Bear, Arrowhead... I remember staying one night up in Wrightwood once, in a motel/cabin, not anywhere near the skiing areas. It was many years ago though.

Idyllwild might work - no skiing up there. This place has budget rooms:

Blue Bird Cottage Inn - Idyllwild, CA
