I'll kick it off with a vote for the SGV... just because that's where I live now and haven't been in L.A. County long enough to explore much else.

I'll vote for SGV(especially Hacienda/Rowland Heights where I live lol). LA character with OC housing and fairly convenient to everywhere. Also really really good Chinese food(best anywhere in the US imo)

Downtown/Central is my favorite. Hollywood is more central than westside

If I could add two favorites, it would be the Westside west of the 405 and the western SF Valley.

Hollywood is a tough one. It's in between central and westside I'd say.

another vote for downtown/central los angeles. i'm a fan of the historic architecture, the mass transit options, the socioeconomic and ethnic diversity, the abundant and high quality eateries, the old-time small businesses that have managed to hang on to the present day, and the classic pre-WWII feel of this area in general.

fyi boyle heights is located within the eastside, not central los angeles. in fact, i'd describe boyle heights as a quintessential east LA neighborhood.

agree with pwright1 that the neighborhood of hollywood should be categorized as part of central los angeles rather than the westside. the city of west hollywood, though, is generally considered a westside community.

does the category "south side" refer to south los angeles (formerly known as south central)? if so, carson, inglewood, gardena, torrance, and hawthorne do not belong, as they're all part of the south bay. compton is often lumped into south los angeles (despite being an independent municipality) due to its inner city reputation. a more representative listing of south los angeles neighborhoods would include communities such as leimert park, west adams, jefferson park, crenshaw, baldwin hills, watts, and so forth.

i've read that diamond bar is technically part of the pomona valley; regardless, it's often lumped into the san gabriel valley anyway.

Thanks a lot for that clarification! Like I said, I am new to the L.A. area and am not 100% familiar with the area yet. If I could edit the poll, I would make those changes but unfortunately I don't think that I can edit it.
