You don't need to go to Koreatown to make up your mind whether LA is a ******** or not.

Actually, you don't need much in savings to move to Los Angeles. You do need something lined up, like a job, you're going to school there, or you have a family member or friend who will let you stay with them. I'd say even a couple of grand is good if you already had a job lined up. Just rent a room somewhere, and go to work. You'll have more money coming in. Also, do you have any professional or personal networks you can access? Thing about other resources too that can help in Los Angeles, like the non profits or social services. Or places you can go for free or cheap medical or dental.
