Yeah closed. It's been closed since I moved in October. I had no idea it used to be there until I noticed the signs on Google Maps.

FYI, Grand view Palace just moved to Old Town. It's my go to for Chinese.

What do people think about Lucky Boy? I went there this weekend, burgers were so so portions were great. Service was terse.

You don't go to Lucky Boy for the burgers. You go for the breakfast burritos with sausage AND bacon with a side of ranch.

Lucky Boy had a great pastrami sandwich (nice and greasy) with large portions, similar to "The Hat" in Pasadena, Alhambra and Temple City. I wish we had such places here in the Bay Area! I'd eat one of those and fall asleep after lunch!

Burgers at Lucky Boy were decent, and from what I recall, a good deal.

Yeah, service was kinda' impersonal.

You are referring to Ted Floutsis. He is part of the institution.

Cashier at Pasadena burger joint revered for his rudeness

There was a lady cashier at Lucky Boy also, just as rude! Appeared to be Asian-Indian or Iranian. This was 6-7 years ago, perhaps times have changed.

Haha that is awesome. I phoned in the order and couldn't stop laughing after I hung up.

Monahan's; it closed in 1992.

Weep for old Monahan’s, that cramped, smoky warren of dark booths where Joseph Wambaugh, and many a policeman like him, used to drink, for Monahan’s is no more. When the Pasadena landmark was torn down last year, people sold pieces of Monahan’s rubble as souvenirs, in the Berlin Wall manner.

Did The Cellar close permanently? I think it changed hands years back. I'm not referring to the "wine library" unless that's what it was changed into. Wouldn't surprise me.

What a wonderful place that former folk nightclub was. Too bad I can't remember who I saw play there. Too many, and it's been too many years.
