Personally, I would. Like 'Barcelona Fan' said, we are a cyberpunk city.

It already is pretty cyber punk if you notice it right. Ridley Scott had LA down pat. In fact, the LAPD headquarters looks a lot like the US Bank Tower, but BR was made in 1982, while the tower never existed until '91.

The bazaars look like the hustle and bustle you see on Pico all the way down to 8th and Alvarado, MaCarthur Park, 6th St. etc.

The freeway drive toward DTLA when the spotlights are on near LA Live is Akira's Neo-Tokyo, hands down, the sight is right out of a movie featuring a metropolis. All that is only made further true by the roving helicopters in the air.

Once on the 101 freeway I saw LAPD copter shinging his spotlight down on someone on the weekend while more spotlights graced Hollywood and the neon lights were all turned on. It was an amazing sight.

When I first arrived and went to Hollywood and Highland and walked down further away from the Chinese Theater I saw what looked like 'punk city' with lost boys with colored hair and real punks with high mo-hawks skating by. A girl with one of those nose rings and the chain that extends from the nostril to the ear passed by me.

I am telling you the future is ALREADY HERE.

What's wrong with normal architecture? It will feel out of place. Even the Wilshire Grand will.

Until we start getting more buildings like the Grand and it will start to blend in.

Besides that, most of L.A. consists of horrible 80's architecture..

Unless you're looking for Tyrell Corp style pyramids I really don't see what new architecture the movie could provide LA?

Something like that skyscraper on the right:
I like the way it has these big panels around it.

Sure, I'm all for it.. Wilshire Grand is a start. You should visit some of the mega cities in Asia (Seoul, Tokyo) if you get a chance. They do the whole Blade Runner feel really well. Ironically, the Wilshire Grand is being built by Korean Air as well.

I disagree, that tower looks amazing in the renderings I've seen

Also kinda looks like a really tall Capitol Records building.

Santee Alley. They even (used to?) have (illegal?) animals for sale. "Not fish, snake scale!"

Regarding the original post, which Blade Runner buildings are you thinking about? The Ennis House, the Bradbury, Union Station (although I thought the interior of the LAPD station was actually the Terminal Annex), the 2nd Street tunnel, Million Dollar Theater all exist. I've been in love with the Tyrell Pyramid since the first time I saw BR. It'd be a fantasy L.A. building but of course there's no space for a structure with a footprint that big.

I think the helipad requirement has been relaxed, allowing spires and sails.

I'm sure the Wilshire Grand will look pretty good once it's built but to my eye it doesn't look particularly special - nothing like it in the DTLA skyline to be sure but seems like any current shiny tower in an Asian or Middle Eastern country. I just wish it had some interesting patterning or embellishments. I also think it's more appropriately sited in South Park. To bring this back to Blade Runner, the Wilshire Grand will have moving graphics, echoing the "tv screen" building.

Sorry munch, it seems like I've been disagreeing with you a lot but I actually agree with most of your postings.
