So, Pasadena looks to me to have the best weather in LA (for my taste). It appears not get below 60 to often, but goes above 72 frequently. My kind of weather. I also see an intellectual vibe and natural beauty. However, every pic I see of the freeway makes my skin crawl! I HATE traffic and being stuck in it. If one lived in Pasadena, where could one work and avoid the freeways? Is it possible?

Thanks to anyone who takes time for my question. I've really been dreaming of Pasadena a lot, and feel free to suggest other areas you know of with consistently warm temps, without frequent extreme highs (I.E. The Inland Empire).

People always say the Westside has the best weather. Pasadena can get a little hot.

Gold Line. And the mountains help keep the SGV hotter- little or no breeze up there.

If you want to live in Pasadena (I did for many years), ideally you want to find a job in which you need to commute east during the morning rush hour and west, during the afternoon rush hour. This is against the normal commuting traffic patterns.

The best thing would be to find a job right in Pasadena!

I can handle heat. 90s here feel similar to 100s in dry heat. I think (from the charts) that the west side is not much different from the SGV, except it doesn't get as warm during the day. Lows look the same year round.

Good old public transport! Easy to forget about that living here in Florida.

Thanks for the tip. Yes. I always prefer to live walking distance to just a few miles from my job. I would try I'm earnest for an office in Pasadena if I decided to live there.

in your original post you mention not getting below 60 degrees too often. i'm not sure if you mean day time highs or temps throughout the day, but the night time lows are below 60 for probably 9 months of the year. in the winter time, it's not uncommon for the day time high to not exceed 60 degrees.

...and smoggy. If you can afford it, the west side has much better weather, although Pasadena has a lot of other attributes.

I'm from Florida too, I just moved here 6 weeks ago. But I have a low tolerance for heat, and I was going crazy with the weather difference in other parts of LA. So Westside it is for me.
