I live on a fairly busy street in the west Valley and often return late at night. When I went to get something from my car this morning, the mail carrier (foreigner of course) pulled up behind my car and told me that I "need" to move my car up a little further from the mailbox, not "please", "can you?". Since when did mail carries start to be so tactless and rude? Now, I feel like parking my car there just to be a pest.

your mailman has it easy. in my neighborhood in the valley everyone's mailbox is next to the front door so the mailman has to go door to door by foot after parking at the end of the street.

Why would you be so inconsiderate as to park in front of the mailbox to begin with? Sounds like you need to be more aware of your surroundings.

Honestly, judging by your posts this week you are pretty tactless and rude. He sounds like a guy just trying to do his job. Maybe he should come to your job and stand in front of your computer screen until you ask him nicely.

There's often no where else to park, especially on trash day. If my choice is to park in front of a driveway, trash cans, or a mail box, guess which one I'm going to pick.

Not such a great comparison. The mailman is there to serve "us". As in any service industry, we owe it to our customers to be courteous and committed to creating positive experiences for them. As another poster said, this fatty never even has to get out of her vehicle. She should deal with all of the parking trauma like everyone else here.

Its a Federal policy to keep the approach to your mailbox clear, which typically includes your vehicle.

Its been argued that a vehicle doesn't impede "safe access", as foot access it not impeded, but its an old argument that is not typically won.

Also, what does him being a "foreigner" have to do with anything?

1.4Clear Approach

Customers must keep the approach to their mailboxes clear of obstructions to allow safe access for delivery. If USPS employees are impeded in reaching a mail receptacle, the postmaster may withdraw delivery service.

How 'foreign' could they have been if they work for the UNITED STATES postal service?..

What made you think they were a "foreigner" ?

Just wondering.

Is this a serious post? With what objective? Why the "foreigner of course" crack? Where they were born is immaterial. That may show just how you behaved in this situation, and others. You're better because your mother bore you in the U.S.? Really, it was an unnecessary-- and completely immaterial-- remark. If you feel the mail carrier was rude, file a complaint with the USPS. Parking closer to the mail box to **** him off just make you look childish (I'm assuming you're over 12, since you drive) and, more importantly, could make them just not deliver your mail.
