Free Air, Water at the Gas Pump / Davis signs into law what some call silliest bill of the legislative session - SFGate

I remember reading about this bill sponsored by Assemblywoman Nell Soto of Pomona when I lived here a few years back. Many of us out of staters come from places where gas stations charge 75 cents to $1 to use these services. It's another example of how Calif looks out more for the average citizen than greedy corporations. Although, I'm sure that they do that too.
Do the gas stations that you frequent still comply with this?

Nope!

I'd say about half. Mostly it is just the air they charge for, I think water is usually free.

Of course, I don't frequent many gas stations and the main one I do is right off the 101 in Hollywood, probably trying to take advantage of desperate tourists and commuters.

It's free for customers who fill up.

Just ask and the clerk will start the machine from behind the counter... nicer clerks won't even care if you bought gas or not.

One of the only stations that I can think of that has the air for free without having to ask or put coins
is a chevron in Brentwood
110 S Barrington Ave, Los Angeles, CA

It kind of sucks having to fiddle with putting in coins if you don't have them etc when you need something like air or water.
