Hey all, how's everyone doing?

I'm looking for a good deal on a Toyota Prius lease for my mom.

It's a long story but she's returning a BMW SUV (anyone question why she leases an expensive BMW and he gets a knuckle sandwich with mayo on the side - I TOLD YOU it was a long story ) but she needs a new car very soon for work - and we figured that it would make the most sense for her to get a fuel-efficient car like a Prius.

Let me just clarifiy a few things:

1) My family understands that buying a car saves more money than leasing one. But we don't have the money for a down payment on a new car (father's having difficulties with business, and I'm tied down in my own finances).

2) I've heard all the stuff about the environmental benefits of reduced emissions from a Prius being negated by the pollution it creates to make the car. But for us it's about the mileage, first and foremost. It saves gas.

Does anyone have any good leads - either a car dealership in the L.A./L.B./North O.C. area, or an online dealer? Please provide specifics if possible, like a n address and phone number, or a website.

I'd like to thank anyone that can help in advance - thanks!

Are you in L.A.?
Why lease? Can you not afford a slightly higher monthly payment and NO money down?
I just bought a new Civic for $330/mo with NO money down. My FICO score was very high, but maybe you have great credit too.

As far as leads, just "play" the game with local dealerships online and only online by talking to the head of fleet sales and finally get to a price at invoice or $500 above.

There is no reason you shouldnt be able to get a Prius with 0 down...a NEW one for about $450/mo over 60 months. at a 7%. Thats a $23k loan.

Good luck

Prius' are expensive. Have you considered a Honda Civic, Scion xB, Toyota Corrolla, or a Hyundai? All those will be much cheaper.

If you want to purchase and don't mind used, try Carmax.com

What's your price range? I can help you search.

Wow guys, thanks for the help. I really, really appreciate it. But here's the problem:

... this is why my mom is looking at leasing - I'm just helping her do some research and I thought you fine folks could help her.

I'd help my mother if I could but I have my hands tied. And my dad (who's still working) isn't doing too hot financially and can't afford a new down payment on a vehicle.

Some of you might find this hard to believe but the only car I've ever owned was a 2002 model that my father paid for (when he had more money). I've been driving that ever since. So I'm not sure about the whole process of purchasing a used vehicle - is it any different from purchasing a new one? Thanks again.

Since no one asked this yet...

How far does your mother commute each day? If it's a lot of miles, it might make more sense to look for the hybrid.

She probably commutes around Torrance/South Bay mostly (we live there), and occasionally to the WestSide. I'm not sure, maybe about 12-15 a day.

Why buy an overpriced hybrid for such a small commute? You have to drive a lot of miles per year for many years before a hybrid saves enough gas to offset its extra cost. A 3 year old Civic or Corolla makes a heck of a lot more sense. They're cheap to buy, cheap to maintain, get good mileage, and run forever.
