would I want to kill myself with a commute from W. 5th St. & S. Broadway downtown LA to sunset blvd & fairfax?

The heaviest traffic flows westbound in the morning and eastbound in the afternoon rush hour.

I wouldn't. You could either take the 10 to Fairfax - I used to go that way and it was a nightmare. Or surface streets - I tried that too - also a nightmare. It's not really reverse because so many people are heading out the 10 to Century City, etc. Same with surface streets - people going to Hollywood, BH, etc... Very congested.

Maybe. The majority of commuters are going from east (or north, the valley) to the Westside to work, so you're part of the herd.
