The Westside is still majority white, as is the west San Fernando Valley. And I think the Beach Cities in the South Bay as well. Some areas like the Pacific Palisades are 90% white.

In Carson about half of Hispanics self-identify as white, so Hawthorne is probably similar. So that means that there are about 8 or 9 non-Hispanic white people in Hawthorne!

Actually parts of Hawthorne just east of the 405 and all of it west of the 405 are mostly white. Probably just a few thousand people out of 85,000. Maybe 5-10%.

2010 census shows that Hawthorne is 10.3% non-Hispanic White. Or 8,642 persons.

Well if you'd rather interject facts rather than random guesses. Ok, I guess.

The largest concentration of non Hispanic Whites are west of Hawthorne Blvd. East of Hawthorne is mostly Black/Latino. I used to live around there..

Last time we stayed in Los Angeles (about 3 years ago) we stayed at the airport and met my cousin, in Torrance, for dinner. We drove right through Hawthorne and the kids were getting out of school. We saw lots of white kids and lots of Asian as well. Of course a huge number of whites are actually Hispanic, which are considered white. Like anyplace else in the Los Angeles area, you are going to see a lot of everything including people from all over the world. It certainly isn't a city of ASP anymore.

Interesting...I moved out of Los Angeles in the 90s to Northern CA. This information is helpful. Is there a lot of gang problems in Hawthorne now a days?
