Right - the law literally only excludes alcohol sales from 0200 to 0600.

Maybe she means Glendale Community College.

I am just going to say, there are a lot of quality 2-year college options in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas. LACC would be almost my last choice. It is in a struggling district, in a poor area, attended by a population I don't think most people fromt he east coast would feel comfortable with.

Why did you pick LACC?
To be honest, it was in my price range for tuition. I was also considering LA City College on 855 N. Vermont Ave. Again, it is within my price range and it has the courses I need.

Could you elaborate a little more? So, I would probably not feel comfortable at LACC? Should I avoid that district? Are there any low-cost colleges that offer courses in photography and psychology (I know...weird combo) that you would recommend?

I don't mind admitting that moving to the West Coast is very intimidating, so all of your assistance is appreciated 100%!

I am considered low-income. That was one of my deciding factors. I have to pay for it out of pocket, and I am on a limited income (at least until I find better employment). Then again, low-income could be a subjective term depending on what would be considered in that bracket.

In NH, we have no sales tax. What is the CA sales tax? Is there a county tax? A city tax? If I see a bottle of water for $2.00, how much will I actually be paying at the register?

What school is it you meant? I was talking about LACC (Los Angeles City College).

Sales tax in LA County is 9.00%. Meaning your $2.00 bottle of water will cost you $2.18.

Look at Moorpark College in the next county up the coast. May be more your speed.

LACC does have an excellent Film program, but that's about it. If Film is what one wants to study, then it is worth the trip from anywhere. Actually more hands on than USC, which is more academic.

Of all things some stores will have their own policy to not sell after midnight, often at 7/11 or Arco. We used to close a bar in Downey and drive to a liquor store across the street that sold right up to a minute of 2am.

I worked in Georgia for a month back in 2008. Right off the plane I tried to buy a 30 pack of beer at the market on a Sunday - no go. Found out later I could have bought singles at the hotel or restaurant.

I still think anyone coming from the East Coast (aside from heavy urban areas) would have a massive culture shock (in a bad way) living in a crappy area of LA and going to LACC.

So...what school did you mean OP?
