My family is currently planning to move our lives from a small northeast town in Arkansas to the Los Angeles California area. My familiy consist of myself, my husband, our 3 children (all aged 5 and under), our "brother" and his girlfriend. They are all excited and looking forward to the move, while me well I'm having doubts and fears about it. I would love some advice, reassurance anything lol. Would it be a good area for my children? Would their lives have more potential there?

Hmmm... really hard to say. People definitely have kids in L.A and they raise them in L.A . Really hard to say regarding potential. I haven't been to Arkansas yet. I am sure there would be stuff there they would experience that they won't in L.A and vice versa. L.A doesn't usually come up on the list of 'best places for kids' ...but in a way it can be a good place theres quite a bit of recreational stuff to do , different free events, festivals.etc. The weather is never too bad most of year.

I think one big thing is the public schools...LAUSD doesn't have a great reputation. It seems like once kids start elementary people start thinking about this.

Honestly a lot of it comes down to money...especially if you need to pay for private school. There are other districts near L.A like Burbank which seems to be a lot better for schools , but the properties definitely aren't cheap.

What are you most fearful of?

Have you been to L.A before at all? I would definitely take a trip before moving .

I'm guessing you are probably moving for a job or something? Im always kind of curious when people decide to move to L.A if it's not for the entertainment business.

The good news is that 3-4 bedroom house you'll need for your family should only run about $3500 a month.
