Can anyone recommend a good Android app for local public transit? Of course the MTA does offer an app, but it doesn't include municipal partners like the Culver City and Santa Monica bus systems. Over most of the Westside, where public transit is mostly provided by other agencies, Metro's app isn't very useful at all.

The specific functionality I'd like is an ETA of the next bus when I'm waiting at a stop.

There is no app out that tells you the ETA for big blue and culver city. There's only for metro. Where's my LA Metro Bus and Transit LA are the best.

There doesn't seem to be a bus tracker app for LA. You're just best off using Google Maps, even though they don't offer that functionality.

This doesn't work on Culver City and Santa Monica buses, but there is always that number at the MTA stop for you to call/text which will tell you how long it will take for the bus to come.

I guess it's because transit agencies like Santa Monica are small and nobody thinks to make an app like that.

Not only can you text the number, but there are the two apps I listed above. Where is my LA Metro Bus and TransitLA. For Iphone. I think for Android they have Go Metro LA. They aren't 100% accurate, but you can predict thru GPS tracker when the bus will arrive at your specific stop. Unfortunately this only applies to the Metro, not Big Blue, Culver or any other local transit.

As disgruntled stated, there are a couple. Plus Metro has its own "Next Bus" system. Most bus stops also have a number you can call for "next bus" for those that do not have a smart phone. I've found Next Bus to be 100 percent accurate, if not a bit optimistic by a minute or two.
