I'm obviously not from California so if you could help me with ways to find a job in music industry?

I have been in this business for more than a decade, co-owned a little music studio in Europe, dealing with all sorts of music, and did almost everything, from composing, arranging, singing vocals, playing instruments...

Since I'm from Europe and don't have connections with people in that industry could you offer me some info?
I would love to be involved in music for movies, already did some singing and composing for local filmed movies+my knowledge about west and eastren Europe music would maybe be of useful...

Thanks!

I worked as a music recording and mixing engineer (Hip-Hop, Pop, and R&B specifically) for about 10 years before finding my way in to doing audio post production for one of the big studios (what I currently do).

Put together a reel as an example of what you are capable of. Make it amazing. You might try to be a music editor first. That would help you learn the ropes, and know who is who that can help you get to where you want to be.

Contact Universal, Paramount, Technicolor, Disney, Warner Bros, Sony, Ascent Media, Margarita Mix, Levels, Point 360......... All post production houses and there are many more than what I listed.

Be charming, confident, and talented. Be persistent, but not overbearing or desperate. Be in Los Angeles. No one will move you here when there is an amazing pool of talent already here. Be ready to fail. Have at least a years worth of income set aside while you are starting out (or generous family to support you). Be ready to accept a position beneath you to start. Be humble.

I've seen hundreds come and go within 3 months of arriving. It's hard to get in. It's even harder to stay.

All of this is specifically geared towards your desire for doing music for movies. The record industry is a different beast all together, and requires a different approach.
