Hi,
I'm Egyptian and i'm comparing between NYC & LA to move on and get my postgraduate study.
I want to know if i want to live in a studio in any Los Angeles skyscraper in downtown,
How much the rent per month? i knew that in NYC it's higher than 2500$/month so what about LA?
Thank you.

check out the sight tpyg suggested for starters. Where are you planning on get your advanced degree? Have you applied to school yet, because I do believe you have to be accepted before you can get a study visa. I might be wrong. Rents might be a little lower in Los Angles that NYC but remember L.A. doesn't have a great public transportation system like NYC and I am assuming you will not have a car. Am I right?

yes, i won't get the study visa else after acceptance but i want to make a compare about the price of living in a skyscrapers in the two cities to have all important information before applying because the tuition of the city college of ny is less than the tuition of the california state university la and as you said that the public transportation in nyc is better than in la so it's still the price range of the rent of a studio in skyscraper in nyc and la & in nyc it starts from 2500$/month then i want to know the start price of the rent in la?

An old crappy one (which im looking at) are 1300 - 1500, I imagine the newer ones will run 2000+.

Tons of foreign students come to the usa without the ability to drive. I'm sure you can survive without a car in LA, but you will miss out on the beauty of SoCal and your life style will be limited.
