Hello,
Does anyone here commute to downtown from the Woodland Hills area? If so, could you tell me how long the commute is? Also, how do you make your commute in the morning?
Thanks, Steve

Well Google maps says 1:40 in traffic. In my experience, their "in traffic" estimate is often way short. So maybe 2-2.5 hours in traffic?

that won't be a fun commute at all. the valley that woodland hills is located in has close to 2 million residents and there are only two ways to get to downtown from the valley meaning around 1 million residents use that same stretch every day. bad commute.

Three freeway routes

101 all the way
101/405/10
101/134/5

but in the end it is all the same, at that hour it is going to suck.

What ever happened to the train? Isn't there a Red and Orange line? Anyone use public transportation in L.A.? How long does that take?

Yes there is. If I was you I would drive from Woodland Hills on Victory Blvd all the way to Lankershim Blvd in North Hollywood. Victory Blvd is a much faster street to drive on since it has three lanes for both sides of the road and has few stop lights. At 7am, it would take you about 25 minutes to get to North Hollywood from WH. From there you can catch the red line to Downtown which would take another 20 minutes. You can park your car in the free parking lot all day plus it's better than driving to Downtown from WH which at 7am would take you about an hour and a half. If you do have to drive, then I would take the streets to downtown as soon as I get to Hollywood or else it would take about two hours or so.

If I had to drive, the 101 to the 134 and to the 5 would be my choice. One you get on the five I would exit on Los Feliz Blvd. From there I would make a left on Hillhurst Ave and a left on Sunset. Sunset would take you to downtown without having to deal with the jammed freeway intersections at the 5 and 110. Although this trip would take you a bit more than an hour coming from Woodland Hills.
