That was rather sad.

Nothing against the Lakers, but why not fly both?
Those car flags are kinda tacky.
Are these popular?

Very few fly flags. I have seen small flags in yards near my neighborhood. When I asked I was told that a realtor put them there around the 4th and some people have not taken them up.

It is quite rare, at least in NELA where I live. On a side note: I'd love to see all the old buildings downtown use those old flagpoles- would look pretty awesome. Some of the buildings on Broadway have two or more per building.

I was wondering what it is like in Los Angeles, another city with a large immigrant population.
Do you notice a lot of flags flying outside peoples homes compared to the rest of the country? been awhile since i been to L.A but it seems like there were more people flying flags compared to MN.
plus there is a stereotype that Californians arent that patriotic and don't like America but i think thats just crap made up by southern conservatives who don't know what they are talking about.

It was more common when there were more WW2 vets.

Not common at all in LA.

The only states I've ever been where it really stuck out were Massachusetts and Texas, where nearly every other house has a flag outside, all hours, all year.

I display an old Bennington flag on my apartment balcony for 4th July week every year, but that's it...

You can see a lot of flags hanging outside the mansions in coastal Newport Beach. Cuz parading your wealth during a recession is the American way!

True. Some people have them high up on a flagpole in their front yard and it must be too much trouble for them to take the flag down at night.

The high-jacked planes were destined to arrive in Los Angeles, so there were Californians affected. Not fair to say that people here were detached. The city was a ghost town for a few days fro the attacks.

The smaller cities put flags around town around the holidays, but you don't see it as much due to budget cuts. There are many neighborhoods in Culver City and Torrance that had flags up around the sidewalk as well as the homeowners displays their flags.
