what's the best means of transportation to get from west hollywood to huntington beach? hoping to not have to sit in traffic on the 405 on a friday night bc i would imagine that's miserable. i heard there's a metro line that goes down there but i also don't wanna have to deal with changing trains, schedules, etc. Is there an easy metro route? Looking for a quick solution if one exists.

no easy solution, you'll need to drive and the 405 is least of all evils.

You could get as close as long Bch. Hollywood highland red line would take you to blue line terminus long Bch bl & 1st. Then get a ride from someone.
The "metrolink" or "Amtrak" are further inland like buena park, irvine, sta Ana.

LOL, you're joking right??? the 405 was recently rated as one of the most congested freeways in the country, especially around the westside......

to get to HB, OP will almost certainly have to drive the 405 at some point of his/her journey. taking the 405 from weho, is the most direct route and alternate routes are really no better on a Friday evening.

5-605-405 is an option. Don't know if it's better or worse than 405-only. 5 is usually a nightmare at any time.
