Are you banking on being able to get an "industry" job via resume in LA? You might have to know someone to "get in". I mean, you COULD theoretically get a nice job by sending a company your resume, but there are a lot of people in LA trying to get into the entertainment industry.

Not being one from LA but considering visiting the place without a car there is a handy guide that could help you when you visit without a car to get an idea of transit options -

It is SLOWLY becoming outdated as LA expands quickly its rail lines but it is still relevant, or if you planning a trip in a year or two look for more recent updates. The author is seasoned - he visited LA without a car in 1984!!!

Car-Free Los Angeles and Southern California: Nathan Landau: 9780899976563: Amazon.com: Books

Native LA's let me know your thoughts on this book if you have investigated it.

A lot of things will change in your life in the next few years, more than you can imagine. As for moving, someone suggested you visit first, that is always a good idea, visit for about a week, check thing out, but it won't be easy without a car, not now anyway. Eventually it will get better as the transit system improves.

You will not be able to make the kind of money in L.A. you are making now. well, that depends, we still do not really know what you are doing to make that kind of money. And the one thing that hasn't been mentioned by anyone, you don't just decide to come to America. If you want to work, you have to have a work visa and a job before you relocate. There are a lot of things you haven't considered it appears. You have addressed the issue of saving your money. That is a good start.
