I might have a possible job opportunity in west Hollywood. I would be making 2500/ month I know nothing about the neighborhoods in LA as I grew up in San Diego and went to school in the inland empire. So I need your help what are some good areas to live in on that budget or is it even possible to make it off that. My girlfriend would be living with me also but she would have to find a job in the area so it would just be my income at first. Thanks in advanced.

That budget is tough. Is your girlfriend going to be bringing in income? Will you have any outside support? Assuming you are just living on your 2500 a month income, you're going to have to do some major apartment sharing. Possibly share a one bedroom with another person. Or get a 2 bedroom with 2 others. It also won't be in the best areas, you may be able to scrape something in Koreatown or East Hollywood.

Eventually she will be bringing in an income but not at first she will have to find a job out there. Are there any cheaper areas with a decent commute time? Im willing to commute but not trying to commute more than 30 mins.

you could get a studio in hollywood for around $1000/month. Assuming you don't have any debt that should get you by until she starts bringing money in.

East HOllywood and Koreatown wouldn't be more than 30 min commute.
