Your kids will thank you someday, because they will have significantly more freedom for a lot less money than Cali kids. God speed. (not being a sarcastic negative nancy)

Or, your kids will wish you stayed on the West Coast because there lot's of opportunities out here that the midwest can't give you.

Good for you! It will be the best move you've made, California is notorious for corrupting kids. Iowa is a solid place to live, with famously good morals, work ethic, schools, and a low unemployment rate. The cost of living is also in line with wages, like most of the Midwest.

Are you saying her kids will be better off than kids from Colombia?

You don't know that. If my parents had moved us out to the Midwest when I was a kid, I would probably still be pissed about it to this day. And yes I've lived in a few different states.

But surfing is such an important part of my life I may not be the norm.

Congratulations on making the decision that works best for you. Now you will always have a great set of memories and experiences that you might have missed out on if you had never given California a shot.

Best of luck in your future!

x2. Iowa from what I heard from numerous people, is a solid place to raise a family (or was it corn?).All Kidding aside, best wishes and luck to you and your family!

I seriously doubt it but if the kids want something different or more, they can always pack up and move when they are 18!
