I've been to LA lots of times. That's why I want to move there, because I know I like it. When I was there last I stayed in Venice and drove out to West Hollywood and Hollywood and it didn't seem like too far of a drive to me. But I'll only really know what things are like once I live there. Hence why I'm asking these questions.

Like I said, you can easily do that commute, but I'd recommend you try and take your classes on two days rather than every day. It's a much better use of your time.

So, I asked around (I know two people who live in LA) and after figuring out the pros and cons I think I'm going to try and find a place in Venice. If not there, then Mid-City West. WeHo is my third choice. It would be higher, but apparently the commute to SMC is hell, and that's definitely where I want to go (also after asking around.) Is it doable to get there from Venice on weekends though? Because I do want to go there pretty often.
Anyway, does this seem like the right decision? And are there particular areas or even buildings in these places that anyone would recommend? (I want to avoid the "family pockets." The younger the better. But also in Venice I want to stay clear of the sketchy/dangerous areas, which I hear is Oakwood. Am I wrong about that?)
