I personally love it. Granted I've only been here for about 8 months, but I don't view it as a tourist trap like NYC residents view Times Square. Both tourists and locals frequent LA Live in my experience.

I think it's a pretty good thing for LA to have. What do you think about it?

Meh. It would near the bottom of reasons I'd visit downtown, but I don't avoid it either. It seems to put otherwise trepedatious visitors at ease downtown, so I guess it's a net benefit.

I second that meh. I have nothing against it, but I don't really see it as something worth going downtown to visit. I don't take visitors there either, though maybe I should and see what outsiders think of it.

I guess I am curious, what exactly do you do there?

It's a cool place and a major catalyst for the changes going on dowtown. The crown jewel (Staples Center) is the definition of world class and a great place to hang around before a game. The movie theater is really nice as well.

I like how it's gentrified parts of dtla, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go there. Almost every business/restaurant at LA Live is found further west.

I also give it a big 'meh.'

Not a sports fan (at least not the kind to go to a game at Staples) so there's not that reason to want to go, and I can visit the same restaurants at a dozen other places if I desired.

I do like Club Nokia for a show, though.

I don't mind it, but it's not some place I'd go unless it was for a Lakers game.

I'll love it even more if Farmers Field somehow becomes a reality.

I usually only go when I attend a game at the Staples Center, but it's a great place to hang out for other purposes. Right when I moved here, there was a big festival for St. Patrick's Day there. Plenty of people attended. And the Regal movie theater, in addition to being a great theater, has some pretty good deals at the beginning of each month.

There are also plenty of restaurants there that I think go above the typical touristy food. And I guess I just like the whole idea of the LA Live complex.

Well, I go for Staples mostly. I never drive there- it's just close enough to take the train from my house in Mt Wash, or just walk from my downtown office. I have gone to a few movies at the Regal, which is very nice. I just don't spend alot of time in the complex itself.
