I'm hoping to live in L.A. County, at least at some point. It was my first choice when moving to SoCal, but since I decided to go to UCI, I figured it would be feasible to just live in OC and give it a shot.

As someone who was raised as a Christian and is fairly conservative politically, I still do not see the wonders of Orange County. In fact, I think it's one of the the most useless places in California. I mean, no one does tech like Silicon Valley, San Francisco is a major financial and cultural city, Oakland and Long Beach have massive ports, NorCal has stunning scenery, the Central and Imperial Valleys grow our food, L.A. is an alpha world city (with huge air and sea ports), and even sleepy San Diego has some biotech--and even a seaport and huge border crossing.

Even with the showbiz B.S. up in L.A. County, the county as a whole generally still feels more "real" when compared to OC. That goes for culture, cities and people. I guess that's the biggest difference I can think of.

OC is so much more ' conservative' than LA you can just sense it in the air even while still in your car.

Maybe in the south part of the county but probably not as much on the north side of the county. The south is full of brainwashed religious people.

Absolutely. Those in the southern part of Orange county like to distinguish themselves "south County"

Those in "south County" like to think of themselves as "distinguished." Period.

Lol you think I am speculating when I live in one of those two cities? smh
Ever think that maybe you just didn't express your thoughts very well?

You are right. In fact this whole LA vs Orange county thread has turned into being ridiculous. People should just accept the fact that they are somewhat different as are most places in the country.

I am one of the oddballs that happens to like both Northern and Southern California having lived for many years in both areas. I don't like LA very much and would not live there but that is only because of the traffic and size of it. I am not really that fond of OC neither but would prefer it over LA. My favorite 2 large cities to live in are San Diego and San Jose.

That's my take at least, haha. Sorry.

IMHO the tech industry in Santa Monica/Venice is growing rapidly, could overtake Irvine in 5-10 years. They've got Google's new campus, lots of Sony studios, and Riot Games is a machine that prints money.
Haha yea, LA is where fun is. I have had a chance to live with my friends for a couple of weeks in OC and I was really bored. So, definitly I will prefer LA if you looking for fun and stuff LA is the place.
