hello guys,i am wondering if there are places in los angeles where i can find an apartment at that price. i would not mind east hollywood or echo park. i also notice the apartments on Venice boulevard from Fairfax to Crenshaw in the Mid City. Venice boulevard is fairly safe for me. to those who know LA and the prices,is this price realistic? thanks!

Doubtful for a 1br anywhere on Venice Blvd. Bus access is good on Venice, maybe if you go a few blocks south you can save a little , but I can't imagine you'll get a one bedroom for under 800, maybe a studio.

I highly doubt you'll find anywhere in LA where you can get your own one bedroom apartment for $600 a month. The closest I've found were Craigslist ads for "efficiency" apartments, basically extremely small bachelor's units. I think those were $549 a month, and I wanna say they were in the Glendale area, but I'm not 100% sure to be honest. And again, I didn't go see them but the ad gave their dimensions and we're talking extremely small here (if an apartment ad actually says the place is small instead of "cozy," you know the place is really tiny). If that's your limit budget wise, I'd personally look into renting a room from someone. At least then you'll get a somewhat decent sized apartment.

That's not doable in any of those areas. You could probably get a studio in Westlake for $600

Rooms rent for that price don't they?

You would have to get lucky, maybe find someone renting a guest unit in a home or something. I knew a girl that rented a pool house years ago. It had its own bathroom but the kitchen was a small refrigerator and a microwave.

Yeah my mom rents her poolhouse for ~ $450. Has private bathroom, standard fridge & microwave, but no stove/oven.

Is that in LA or Milwaukee? Sounds like a good deal if LA.

Altadena. It is a good deal. So far she's only rented it to children of her friends who have just graduated college and need somewhere cheap to live while saving some money/ paying off debt. 0% vacancy for 6 years or so now.

Yeah that sounds like a very good deal. She could probably get a couple hundred dollars more a month . But sounds like she is kinda doing it as a favor.
