Hi,

Hoping some native Angelinos can fill in some details about a specific area of Glassell Park/Eagle Rock. We're looking at some places on Verdugo Rd. near York Blvd. Close to the Glendale freeway. This area seems nice enough but wondering if any people who live/work near there can elaborate on how safe it is, what's nearby, if there's anything I should know about the neighborhood, etc. Thanks!

Would say that this is the better part of Glassell Park. Dad lives in Eagle Rock and grew up in Glassell Park. His old neighborhood is now pretty much barrio but just over a few blocks it isn't (as you climb the hill).

Nothing much there. You'll be going to Eagle Rock (off Colorado Bl.) or Glendale or Pasadena for stuff.

Cool. We're looking at an apartment complex called verdugo mesa. Seems well priced and nice enough. Could not find any negative reviews about this apartment complex. Really only one review that was very positive. If anyone has any experience with this place I would love some first hand accounts.

That area is ok for the most part. Using the area where York and verdugo sorta cross: head north on eagle rock blvd and you're in eagle rock. Fine. Head west on verdugo and it takes you to Glendale. You're okay. Going east on York is for the most part ok as well. The area has been going through revitalization in the recent past. But going continuing south on ER Blvd then you're getting into more heavy gang turf.
