Hi everyone. I'm trying to quickly find a 1 bedroom apt in Torrance for my senior parents. This would be a 6 month to 1 year place, as they will eventually be moving to a retirement community. However, since I haven't lived in the South Bay in a decade (I live on the westside now), I'm no longer as familiar with the area. The most important item is finding a nice, safe location, with rent being no higher than $1500 (though would prefer 1200-1300.) Is it still recommended to avoid going east of Crenshaw and Western? Are there any other restrictions I should keep in mind while looking? Schools don't matter, but clean, safe, and good access to markets (esp. Asian ones), shopping, etc. would be great, which I'm assuming won't be too difficult as they will have a car (though walkable options would be a plus).

Mainly I'd love advice on what areas of Torrance to focus on, and which to steer clear of due to safety.

Thanks!

There's a Marukai Market at Sepulveda and Hawthorne and I don't think you'll have a problem in that area, six blocks in any direction.

Really most of Hawthorne is fine. The eastern portion isn't fantastic. And id be selective in any place on Artesia. Not particularly unsafe, but some buildings border on slumish.
