I live in New Jersey. I have a job here at a restaurant. I just won't have one set up when I get to California. Yeah, I've been thinking that the commute to Pasadena City College is too much even though I only have class all day twice a week. Would you think Glendale or Pierce would be easier. LAVC is right next to me but I read bad reviews about that, I'll have to check it out myself.

Like I wrote in your other thread, if you're living near Valley College go there. There's not much benefit to attending PCC or Pierce that overrides the horrible commute.

Since Pierce is on the other side of the valley you might be able to get to Glendale city college in the same amount of time
. I know pierce has a pretty good reputation don't know much about Glendale city or valley college .

I'd also recommend going to the one close by to you.

It's on based on the Professors . Everyone always brags about Santa Monica College , but the one class I took there I had a really bad professor .

Id take a look at reviews on ratemyprofessor before signing up for classes .

LA Valley College as just as good as Pierce. I've taken classes at both. The commute to Pasadena is not worth it, especially being that far north. You'll have to trek down to the 134 and then head east. If you can move any further south (as many have mentioned), closer to the arts district, your commute and closeness to the skate park, etc, etc, etc will be better.

We don't have good credit and can't seem to find anyone who will let us rent a studio without previous tenant references or good credit. This one room we found have been open to us moving in without jobs or creditcheck so i guess we'll just have to start off here and get jobs and build my credit and then move more south. The lease is for four months and the deposit was 250.

I think getting to Pasadena City College could take you a good 40 minutes by car sometimes. I really do like North Holywood downtown. They have done a lot to revive it recently, and lots of good restaurants and shops, and it feels "hip", yet not very dangerous. In downtown they have an odd things with private security in addition to the regular police and it seems to be working. There are some neighborhoods nearby that can be a little more junky looking and I don't know specifically about where you are looking. A similar distance from Pasadena would be Studio City and with the rent control there might be some affordable stuff there too.

You mean the NoHo Arts District? That area is lovely, but the rest of North Hollywood seems blah.
