But after they move to L.A., they hate it and want to relocate?

What is the primary driving force which causes the shift?

I would love to live in an environment with 24 hour sunshine 365 days of the year. Seems like paradise.

I think it's the illusion that LA is all that Hollywood glamour.

I loved visiting L.A., but it was a very superficial experience, because I spent a lot of time at Universal Studios, shopping at the promenade and enjoying the beach. Also, I ate at a lot of great restaurants. Rarely did I come in contact with real L.A. living so it is easy to get caught up with the fantasy that L.A. is mostly sunshine and happiness.

If I lived in L.A. I'm sure it would be a completely different story, because I'd see the grit, and daily grind, which is reality.

Why do people tell their lovey-poos they love them but after they live with them a while, they want a divorce?

Maybe they don't like 72F in February, fresh produce year round, lots of jobs (if you're qualified), low air conditioning and heating bills, swimming in outdoor pools year round, short pants year round.

Maybe they prefer this:

Instead of this

Because they can't really afford to live in the areas where the pictures are taken?

Sure they can, maybe not ON the beach but within 30 minutes of the beach.

And, while it does cost more than some parts of the country to live in LA, it isn't that much more than places (SF, DC, NoVA, CHI, NYC, BOS, Seattle) that have jobs.
