SM Seafood is good, but some items are better than others depending on the season. Sometimes the steelhead's are rich & oily, other times just okay. Same with the Branzino. Also, just because it's fresh & local doesn't necessarily mean that a fish is tasty. Like the yellowtail's from Baja aren't as luscious as the ones from the deep Pacific. fwiw i don't think their Asian/Japn fish offerings (like Kampachi, Hamachi, Saba) are up to the standards of top-tier sushi bars here in LA.

Santa Monica Seafood hands down. I too am very picky about my fish. During King Salmon season I may buy 25 lbs and seal portions with my vacuum sealer and freeze it. I've never been disapointed. A little expensive but worth it.
