i have been taking the bus on Lankershim a lot and i have noticed that according to the LA times map,the northern part of NOHO ends at Sherman Way..but looking at google maps, they say that the northern most part ends at Tuxford street and then it becomes Sun Valley. does anyone know the correct boundries of North Hollywood because when the bus goes north of Sherman Way,there is a different sort of neighborhood vibe,it doesn't feel like North Hollywood anymore.

according to the zip code maps, N. Hollywood (91605) is bounded by Tujunga on the east and Roscoe/Tuxford to the north. East of Tujunga, Sun Valley (91352) actually extends south all the way to Sherman Way. I think most ppl think of N. Hollywood as the arty revitalized NoHo area closer to Victory but that's only a small portion catering to a certain demographic.

Where do I begin? The LA times northern boundary aligns more closely to the demographics of the area and neighborhood feel. It takes out the zip code piece. If we were to use zip codes entirely, parts of Studio City would be in Toluca Lake. There will always be folks that rely solely on zip code and others based on neighborhood council.

I tend more towards the maps drawn by the neighborhood councils since they have the city place the official neighborhood sign designations. So the Mid-town NoHo neighborhood's northern most boundary is Vanowen. Go to the bottom of this page and you'll see the map. This encompasses most of "true" North Hollywood: Calendar - Welcome to Midtown North Hollywood Neighborhood Council

There is the greater North Hollywood area, which encompasses the offshoot neighborhoods: Valley Village, Valley Glen, Toluca Woods, Toluca Terrace, Toluca Lake, West Toluca Lake, North Hollywood North East, North Hollywood West and of course Mid-Town NoHo.

I looked at that map and I was surprised that it showed the northern boundry being Vanowen Street. on google maps, the lankershim social services center, just south of tuxford is listed as North Hollywood. I do feel like North Hollywood ends at Tuxford/Roscoe.

I live in this area , when you look up properties south of Roscoe blvd they come up as North Hollywood and the ones north show up as Sun Valley.

Google maps has Saticoy as the boundary when I just looked it up..kind of strange but I imagine it's hard for a company like google that is mapping the whole world to get it right.

jm,since you live there, can you tell me what the official boundries of NOHO are? I keep asking because I am interested in relocating to that area. I feel like apartment prices may be different if it is in North Hollywood rather than Sun Valley. also,i hear a lot of good things about North Hollywood and I hear that Sun Valley is sort of "hood" like. but if the price is cheap, that area on Lankershim seems not too bad.
