Try CSUDH if you aren't too worried about the rep of a school. That's where I went. I received a solid education, have barely any student loans, now have a great job and my commute was a breeze during school. I lived in Mar Vista then and still live there now, which is very close to Santa Monica.

My commute in the morning from Mar Vista to Carson (CSUDH location) was anywhere from 15 to 30 mins. I would stay on campus most of the day and leave by 5 or so. My commute time would be anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, but it rarely ever reached an hour.

The key is to try to take all your classes on two days or take online classes, that way you'll have more free time during your week to study and hang out in your area if you won't be working.

You can live in a place like Mar Vista or Venice, be near the beach, Santa Monica, the 405, the expo line, and go to CSUDH or CSULB and life will be pretty good. If I can do it, then you can do it.

This seems a bit fishy. I've never met anyone who went to CSUN that had a 3k a month rental budget.

If you come from money why CSUN? Go to a UC school.

Disneyland and partying are pretty high on the requirement list. I think the OPs time in the states is limited, being international. Wants to make the most of it.

Maybe Miami and Disneyworld would be a better party scene for them.

That's true. You will hit reverse traffic from the westside to CSUDH and vice versa in the afternoon. I personally would want to live in Hermosa Beach instead of the westside.

Hey,

I am thinking of santa monica college, and then transferring, that's an option

LOL. Not sure how often OP plans to hit Disneyland. The occasional drive from Ventura to DLAND isn't bad. If OP is going to pony up for a season pass to DLAND, then CSUDH or CSULB are better options.

That was just wanting to know how close things are to SM

So you guys suggest if I want to live in santa monica, that I go to CSU Channel islands (44 miles away) instead of northridge? 44 Miles... google says it's 59 mins usually (SM to CSUCI)
???
Thnx
